I have been creating visual images for about sixty years. It has been a catalytic journey of self discovery through the power and presence of color, form, balance, memory, and their relationships and meaning in my life. I endeavor to begin each new painting without preconceptions or regard for previous work. Nature is always my primary inspiration but I do not try to recreate a scene, it is a springboard for my own imagination. A certain light passing through trees or late afternoon shadows on an old barn glimpsed while speeding past are often enough to inspire a new work. As I quickly approach seven decades on this beautiful planet I am grateful that my long relationship with art and painting remains as vital and passionate as it ever was.
